Can our security deposit refund be split up?

If there is more than one tenant on a lease, sometimes the tenants want the deposit split up and send in more than one check

Please note that by default we must issue a single check that lists ALL tenant names on the check, because the security deposit technically belongs to all tenants named on the lease together, and not split up as equal portions to each tenant. You will all need to sign the check to cash it together.

However, if you would like for us to issue separate checks to each of you dividing up the amount of the deposit refund, or issue it in the name of only one person, then everyone named on the lease will have to sign a lease amendment allowing for this. A Security Deposit Processing Admin Fee of $100.00 would be deducted from your security deposit to cover our costs in processing this. To express your desire to do this, please fill out this form
